What you set up

    The popup asks for an IAM user with ses:SendEmail only, never a root key.

Messages are sent without attachments.

What you can do with Amazon SES

Signed requests

Each request is signed with AWS Signature Version 4, built into the plugin.

Secret stays put

The Secret Access Key is used to sign requests and is never sent itself.

Pick your region

Choose the SES region in the popup, from US East (N. Virginia) to Asia Pacific (Sydney).

All recipients

To, CC, BCC and Reply-To addresses are passed to SES with each message.

Takes over wp_mail

Once all three settings are saved, every wp_mail message goes through SES.

Failures reported

If SES refuses a message, its error goes to wp_mail_failed and the web server doesn’t resend it.
How it works

Set up Amazon SES in three steps

Turn on Amazon SES

Switch on Amazon SES under Hash Form > Modules and click Save.

Enter IAM credentials

Add the Access Key ID and Secret Access Key for an IAM user with ses:SendEmail.

Choose the region

Pick your SES Region and click Save Settings.

Do I need the AWS SDK?

No. The plugin signs SES requests itself with AWS Signature Version 4.

Can I send attachments?

Not through this module. Messages go to SES without attachments, and the skipped files are noted in the debug log when logging is on.

Which regions are available?

Sixteen, including US East (N. Virginia), Europe (Frankfurt), Asia Pacific (Tokyo) and South America (Sao Paulo).
