Take card payments through Stripe Checkout

Buyers are sent to a Stripe Checkout page to pay by card. When they come back, the session is looked up with Stripe before the payment counts as paid.

What you set up

  • Stripe module
  • Test Mode / Live Mode
  • Publishable Key
  • Secret Key
  • Stripe Checkout
    The buyer pays by card on a Checkout page hosted by Stripe.
  • Checked on return
    The session’s amount and currency are compared with the payment on record.
  • Refund from WordPress
    Refund all or part of a payment from Hash Form > Payments.

Test and live keys have their own fields, so switching mode keeps both pairs.

Card payments

A Checkout session is opened for card payment at the amount the form works out.

Test Mode first

Run the whole flow with test keys, then switch Payment Mode to Live Mode.

Verified with Stripe

The return is only trusted after the session is fetched with your Secret Key.

Full or partial refunds

Enter an amount under Refund on the payment’s page, or leave it empty to refund the rest.

Re-check with gateway

Ask Stripe for a payment’s latest state from its page in Hash Form > Payments.

Any amount type

Charge a fixed amount, the products on the form, or the value of a field.
How it works

Set up Stripe in three steps

Turn on Stripe

Switch on the Stripe module under Hash Form > Modules and click Save.

Paste your keys

Click the cog, pick a mode and add your Publishable Key and Secret Key.

Add the field

Set the amount in Payment Settings and add a Payment field that offers Stripe.

Do card details touch my site?

No. Buyers type their card on Stripe’s Checkout page and are sent back once it’s done.

Can I refund a Stripe payment?

Yes. Open the payment in Hash Form > Payments and use Refund for the full amount or part of it.

Which keys do I need?

The Publishable Key and Secret Key for the mode you choose. Test Mode and Live Mode each have their own pair.
