Email for the receipt

The card page asks for an email and passes it to Square with the payment.

Secure connection only

Square’s card fields only load over a secure connection.

Declines paused

After 5 declines on an order, or 10 from one visitor, card attempts pause for an hour.

Signed checkout link

The card page only opens from the link the form issues, and that link expires.

Pending stays pending

A payment Square hasn’t completed shows as processing, never as paid.

Sandbox in Test Mode

Test Mode loads Square’s sandbox card form and sends payments to the sandbox.
How it works

Set up Square in three steps

Turn on Square

Switch on the Square module under Hash Form > Modules and click Save.

Add three IDs

In its cog settings, add the Access Token, Application ID and Location ID.

Add the field

Price the form in a currency Square takes, then add a Payment field that offers it.

Does my site see card numbers?

No. Square’s card form turns the card into a token in the browser, and only the token reaches your site.

What happens when a card is declined?

The buyer goes back to the card page to try another card. Repeated declines pause card attempts for a while.

Why isn’t Square showing on my form?

It needs its keys for the current mode, and the form must be priced in USD, CAD, GBP, AUD, JPY or EUR.
