What you get

What you can do with Google Analytics

Form impressions

A form_impression event is sent for each form that renders on a page.

Form submissions

A form_submission event is sent the first time a visitor submits the form on that page.

First interaction

With gtag loaded, form_field_interaction marks the first field a visitor changes.

Abandoned forms

With gtag loaded, form_abandonment fires when a visitor leaves after starting but not submitting.

Joined to the session

Server events reuse the client ID from the visitor’s _ga cookie when there is one.

Form ID included

Each event carries the form’s ID, so reports can be split by form.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Still wondering about Google Analytics? The documentation covers every setting, and we are happy to help.

Do I need gtag on my site?

No. Impressions and submissions are sent from the server with your API Secret. gtag adds interaction and abandonment events when it’s present.

What’s sent about logged-in visitors?

Server events include the WordPress user ID of a logged-in visitor. The answers typed into the form aren’t sent.

Is it the same as Form Analytics?

No. Form Analytics keeps its numbers on your site, while Google Analytics sends events to your GA4 property. You can run both.
